Caring for our Community

The following organizations are supported through your Mission Committee. We prayerfully encourage you to explore their varied and continual volunteer needs.
GIVE

Food Drive for SC Grocery - on the 2nd Saturday of the month in our church parking lot. The next drive is Saturday March 9th, 10am to noon

We are proud to partner with SC Grocery.   Please check out their website:  SC GROCERY

Our Mission Committee and our church goal is to continue our monthly Food Drive to meet the needs of our neighbors as directed by Jesus in Matthew 25: “For I was hungry and you gave me food…just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”

SC Grocery knows that we can’t  live on bread only, so they also have a care group that addresses spiritual and social needs.  SC Grocery is a non-affiliated Christian organization that serves as Christ’s hands to the community.   Director – Bradley Grose 501(c)3

Standing Together

Operating under the “umbrella” of our church’s Mission Committee, Standing Together is a program of the Christian-Muslim Consultative Group, an interfaith collaboration founded after 9/11.  For nearly ten years some of us from Newhall First Presbyterian and some from the local mosque have met together on the second Wednesday of the month. The goals are 1) to bring Muslims and Christians together to come to know one another 2) to break down dehumanizing stereotypes that keep us apart and fearful of one another and 3) to create opportunities for faithful Muslims and Christian to engage with one another about beliefs and practices.  Standing Together is not an opportunity to try to convert one another, but to understand each other’s faith.  Out of this, mutual understanding, respect and rich friendships have developed.  For further information contact the Church Office.
