Angels – are there women angels? Or, are all angels men since the names of all the angels we could think of were men’s names?

The Greek word “angelos” means messenger and the biblical references to angels is invariably in the context of God speaking to us through these messengers. There is little doubt that all references to angels in the bible use the male gender and the three named angels, Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer, all had male names. However, tradition loves to depict angels as beautiful and spiritual women of gossamer and silk. I strongly believe that there is absolutely no biblical significance to these gender references regarding angels. It is irrelevant. I have various angels depicted in my home and they are all females. They constantly remind me that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with the living God who communicates and communes with me. Peace. Roland Wrinkle
Roland, so I just went through my house with all the Christmas decorations, cards and ornaments. I found 27 angels…all female! just goes to show you that our traditions may not always be biblical.
