I believe that God will use this time of transition to teach us and to nurture us in our spiritual growth.  I also believe that God has wonderful and exciting things in store for our church in the coming year.

their three children utilized their gifts for the Lord and invested themselves in our worship and in the Hispanic ministry.  My prayers are with the Riveras, and I know that God will lead them into a new ministry for him and his kingdom.
During the coming months, the Celebration Service (10:30 a.m.) will be undergoing changes.  We hope to retain the informal and contemporary flavor of the service while enriching it with some of the traditional elements.  There will be a blend of both traditional and contemporary music and worship forms.  The Chancel Choir will sing an introit and anthem near the beginning of the Celebration Service.  Paul Rock will lead the congregation in singing praise and worship songs.  If you have been attending the Celebration Service, I would ask you to be patient with us as we try some new things.  If you have been attending our Traditional Service (9:00 a.m.), I would encourage you to sleep in some Sunday and visit the Celebration Service.  Please pray for the pastors, church staff, and elders as we seek God's direction.  We welcome your suggestions and feedback.
I realize that this is a difficult transition for many in our church family.  It is for me.  I am happy to meet and talk with any of you to answer questions and hear your concerns or dreams for our church.

As many of you know, after much prayer and discussion of budget concerns and ministry objectives, our church's elders voted to discontinue the position of Director of Hispanic Ministries and Celebration Music, held by Nelson Rivera for the past four years.
I want to express my deep appreciation for Nelson and Anita and their children Deanna, Marcus, and Noe.  They were a blessing to our church.  My friendship and ministry with Nelson nurtured my faith and preaching.  He has been a wonderful friend and colleague and I will miss his presence on our staff.  I know that many of us have been inspired and moved by Nelson's leadership in our Celebration Service these past four years.  Nelson was a caring mentor to all those who ministered along side him.  He has the gift of encouragement and has affirmed and nurtured the spiritual gifts of many in our congregation.  Along with Nelson, his wife Anita and
