The Human Side of Your Mission Outreach

A dear mother of several school-age children received some loaves of bread through our church program.  This is what she told her employer:  "For the first time in a long while I had enough bread to make sandwiches for all my kids' school lunches."
With this kind of social ministry we know that we are doing what is important for us as followers of Jesus.  He said:  "If you give a cup of cold water(sandwich) to a thirsty or hungry one in my name, it is as though you gave it to me.

The following article appeared in the San Fernando Presbytery Newsletter:

It is with deep sympathy that we report the recent death of Elder Gwen Castle of Newhall, First.  Besides being a one-time elder, Gwen was on the missions committee at Newhall; this year she was president of Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery.  She was also a Synod Commissioner and member of the Peacemaking Committee of PSF.  Gwen's heart was in the mission and peacemaking work of the Presbyterian Church, and we praise God for her life and her ministry.

"For everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be
demanded."  (Luke 12:48)
