have only heard the finished end. In June,
the Chancel Choir during its Thursday evening rehearsals (on
the 1st, 8th and 15th) will be reading through two of the
major choral compositions of Christian music. We invite you to
come sing along as we explore the driving force behind their
creation. The choir will be spending the first half hour
or so preparing the anthems for June. Around 8 p.m. or
slightly thereafter, we will begin work on the "Gloria" by
Antonio Vivaldi
and the
"Requiem" by Gabriel Faure. You are invited to come at that
time and sing. There is no performance requirement as
the choir itself is only exploring the music, checking on
their feasibility for |

the future. Vivaldi's music was greatly admired by
Bauch (who occasionally "borrowed" some of it.) The
"Gloria" is his most famous vocal work, performed only less
than his most popular orchestral work (of over 600 works) the
"Four Seasons." The "Requiem" by Faure is his signature
work, showing late Romantic style based on a 1000-year-old
chant. Again, come and join us on the aforementioned
Thursday evenings for a little over an hour. Find out
about insights and expressions of religious composers as well
as having a good time.
